Rifugio Vallata
A lodge in the woods where time slows down: mountain cooking, larch-panelled rooms and the quiet of the Valcellina.
Where time seems to slow down
Surrounded by the quiet of the forest, Rifugio Vallata is easily reached from the village of Barcis (PN), by car or on foot along scenic trails that open onto the Friulian Dolomites. Inside, a small dining room furnished with larch and pine welcomes guests into a warm, family atmosphere, where every dish is a tribute to the authentic flavours of the mountains.
What makes the experience special is the bond with the history and traditions of this place: our staff, dressed in traditional local attire, welcome guests with the warmth these valleys are known for.

Our story
From an 1890s bequest on Monte Longa to the house that stands today, built like the old dwellings of Barcis.
Read the storyThe flavours of the valley, dish by dish
Hand-made gnocchi and pasta, polenta from selected flours, game and herbs gathered in the meadows around the lodge. The menu changes with the seasons, because the seasons lead the way.
Il Pastic
An ancient dish of fermented turnips and pork ribs that was close to disappearing. It became a Slow Food Presidium partly thanks to our research into the valley's lost recipes — starting from the growing, with no chemical fertilisers.
